What does Learn look like at your school
How to create a google meet
We went through how to do this which was through Gmail
Using a Calendar invite or through Google meet app itself .
An important thing to know about google meet as a teacher is: You should as a teacher Create and be the last to leave to see all kids gone first.
You need to choose bottom option tab if you want to play a video with sound.
Google meet has tools you can use if you are the creator eg record meet.
Google Keep
You can draw within in and may use this for your signature
At conference --- hold up phone and in keep save
Google mail
You can Delay or shedual send
10 seconds to unsend
Dynamic email -respond with out opening
I have already used some of these tools, I like the shedual emails as I tend to work later at night when it is quiet. It is nice to be able to deliver emails at a more poliet hour.
Google calendar
Can use settings to change font
Change colors cording
Multiple caledars can be available with only some or one open so it's not to busy
Create G meetings from here with additional information about the shedual for the meet
Can customize with notifications
Sits it the side bar while in any other G suit
Can send quick note to guests to remind to bring…. Tool
Syncs with your phone so you can access on the move or be notified.
This is a tool our school has been immersed in and I am transfering to use more consistently. Having multiple calendars able to be opened and use along side each other or in single view at the click of a button is very helpful to manage your various groups and lifes 'circles.' Accessible by phone on the go means you can check your up and comming events and make appointments eaily then be reminded and notified at the appropriate timely to attend. I do use this and find it very useful professionally - I can see that I may be able to use it more in my personal life to assist my planning of life and family organisation. I could make more use of this tool and rest my brain a little which tries to hold the timetables of a family of 5!
Too many tabs:
Too many tabs used power you can manage tabs using
One tab and Toby tab which collects tabs as a group that can be stored as a list
Work owner is a collaborative tool to manage tabs
I am a person who opperates several/ many / possibly too many tabs. I will be mindful of this and close those not needed to save power. I am not certain that the additional tools would be required by me at the moment. I feel that I will focus on taming other areas to organise myself and just stop leaving unnecessasary tabs open. These tools look useful and I see there place but I feel that they may be more than I require currently.
Go to three dots at top then copy paste
Go to insert htm viewclick embed
While I am getting good at joining and leaving and participating in Google meets, I had to revise shedualing my own. It was a step up to share my screen and then to share a video and pictures while presenting.
I can see this being a valuable skill and while last time I made and posted demonstration type videos during lock down. I can see how this is a really great way to be teaching and sharing in the moment when distance learning or sharing. I can see that this allows for questions and discussion during the showing and sharing - very powerful.
The last part of our day was a bit of a challenge and I was so thankful to have assistance for this. I am becoming more practiced at sharing my screen and this helped me acomplish the task. There was many levels of achieving the task and I mannaged it though I felt a tad overwhelmed. May need to practice recording during google meets and sharing on my blog and rewind this learning to try several times so I can get better at it. I am dont feel like re-watching my video discussion effort so I hope this inspires me to re-do and edit it.
Kia ora Rachel,
ReplyDeleteGreat to read about your DFI experience!
Getting use to tools like Toby and OneTab is a life saviour.
I have sent a request access for your DLO that was embedded. Are you able to change the sharing settings? I can help you with this on Monday when I am in.
Looking forward to following your DFI journey over the next 7 weeks.
Cheryl

ReplyDeleteWow, you have shared so many tips and tricks that you have taken away from the days session. Like you said, not everything that we share with you will be of interest to you. Instead, we try to load you with a variety of different tools, tips and tricks and you find the ones that resonates with you.
Looking forward to connecting with you again tomorrow.
Kia ora Rachel,
ReplyDeleteI hope the online DFI is working well for you.
